Box cart hauling capelin
Box carts were used to haul many things with horses. They could haul gravel, sawdust, manure and many other things. In the early summer when the capelin rolled in the men used the horses and box carts to haul them to the vegetable garden to spread over the crops for manure. Most box carts were able to tip up to dump the load. They were always painted up real nice and clean looking in the spring.
