This is a painting in my series of “Memory Paintings” Years ago before there was very much TV and no computers an video games children played outdoors whenever they could.There were many, many games to keep them active and busy. Boys had hockey, piddley, trouting and a host of other stuff. Girls played with dolls. shipping rope and many more as well . There were however some games that boys and girls liked to play together. Four corner cush, farmer in the dell were some. But one of the very favourite was hopscotch. There were many variations of the game . but the most common was the one as seen in the painting. A favourite time to play was in the evening with siblings and a few kids that lived nearby, just before being called in for homework .
