Randying
Randying is a term that was used in Heart’s Delight -Islington to describe riding on a slide or coaster down a snowy hill. Randying was a favourite past time when we were young. Am Perry’s garden and Uncle Al Reid’s garden being some of our favourite places on the Northeast Side of Heart’s Delight. On the Southwest side there was Crocker’s hill and in Islington Welsh’s Hill were the best places. Noted in the painting there are Spitfire coasters. hand slides, sometimes called hand cats. and toboggans. We used to randy on old car bonnets too. but I recommend “don’t try this at home” for that, Ha!
